Once again I would like to thank you for the course you’ve delivered last week and for having given me personally some grounds, knowledge and tools to maintain my position in my daily talks to our legal group when bidding for a job we’re tasked to work on a customer-provided draft contract in an effort to tailor it to meet our internal standards and to align it with the commercial proposal we make. I would be pleased to continue on the training courses you offer in the future, please add my e-mail address to your distribution list. I’ve also circulated the word on your international legal English certificate course you’re planning to have in Almaty among my colleagues.
- Yevgeniy YEVGRAFOV, Parker Drilling Company International Limited, Kazakhstan

Let me begin by thanking you for the Contract Drafting course. It was extremely clear and useful, especially for a "civil law" user, given that our remedies are slightly different. What I appreciated the most were the lectures re representations, warranties, indemnities. I have already recommended my colleagues to also join this course.
- Alessandro Chiarenza, Malta. Jan 2018

I must say that I had a wonderful time at the training and I learnt a lot. Lawyers in Anglo-Saxon countries say that the English language is a tool of their trade, yet so many don't use it effectively. The training equipped me with the necessary skills to use English legal writing to communicate more effectively.

Persuasive writing for lawyers is an advanced course of legal writing arming participants with an ability which most lawyers do not possess: the ability to persuade. Persuasion is an essential legal skill but few lawyers possess it.
Lawyers often forget that they are also professional writers, paid not merely for their knowledge but also for their ability to write texts that win cases and arguments. Many lawyers merely list facts and legal authorities without turning them into winning arguments. This is not persuasive writing. At least 50% of a lawyer’s  writing will be aimed at persuading judges, tribunals, clients or opponents - but often very little thought goes into the text which they hope will persuade the reader.
Persuasive writing is  a skill which can be learnt and gives those who can use it, a big advantage in litigation, negotiation and client handling. It helps to convince judges that the writer's client should win and, for clients, that the lawyer's ability is greater than others. Used properly, readers rarely notice that they are being persuaded – merelyfeeling that the text makes common sense.
This 10 lesson course covers all the major techniques of writing persuasively. It is delivered in easy to understand lessons, using examples and home tasks for participants to practice the techniques. The course includes writing for use in litigation arguments, negotiation scenarios and for general persuasion of clients as well as on behalf of clients. Armed with the knowledge from this course you will be able to deal with, and dismiss, your opponents arguments whilst promoting your own suggestions and ideas. You will gain a clear understanding of how to use the facts and legal authorities to their maximum effect and impact – a unique opportunity, not to be wasted, enabling you to score points, and damage your opponent's case, without even opening your mouth.

A lawyer’s ability to write clearly and correctly will be the basis upon which other lawyers, and potential clients, will assess the lawyer's competence. This may not be fair, or accurate, but it is a fact that younger lawyers, in particular, must master accurate writing in legal English in order to progress their careers. You need every document you write to show that you are a professional, clearheaded, knowledgeable and accurate lawyer - just the type that they want to deal with.

The British Legal Centre’s - Legal Writing Course is a 15-unit, inter-active, online course teaching the essential skills of drafting clear and precise letters, documents and contracts. These include the basic skills of structuring and formatting texts, using correct grammar and style, together with general assistance to make all your writing clear, concise and easy to understand.

All the differing requirements of  letters and legal documents are dealt with, stressing the common rule of being easily understood. The course presents key written communication skills in a series of lessons, following detailed reading and listening passages. The course exercises involve the production of typical work-place documents required in daily work situations. There is a heavy emphasis on the production of written material by the students to test and expand their legal drafting ability. The trainers provide detailed feedback on the home tasks and all are either practicing British lawyers, working in the area of Commercial and Contract Law or experienced teachers of Law and Legal English.
